How to Organize the Logo Design Process

Publisher: Dmytro Nesterov (Marketing Department Officer)

It is said that a good logo should not only represent the company but also motivate staff for better teamwork. That is why the approach to the logo design process must be very serious and client-oriented. This article lists steps which will allow you to organize the design process and deliver a high quality logo which completely meets client’s requirements.

Basic Steps of the Logo Design Process

  1. Organize good communication with the CEO or other authorized person of the company for which you design a logo. Make research on company’s history, current activities, their target audience, selling policies. Find out whether the company is based on conservative principles to determine the best logo design which is likely to be accepted by this particular client;
  2. Decide what would be better logo design for this company: whether the logo should contain image or just a specially shaped text (it is advisable to consult the responsible representatives of the company about this);
  3. Provide several preliminary sketches of the logo for the company executives to choose from. At this stage you can discuss what the client likes or dislikes about the logo designs you have created;
  4. After narrowing down the choices of logos to maximum three designs, you can now use professional vector graphic design software like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw to create professional logos in scalable vector format. You can provide the client with a few additional variations of the same logo (different colors or slight changes in logo elements). Your clients will most likely ask you to provide logos in several file formats necessary for print and web purposes (such as JPEG, TIFF, EPS). If it is a local company you may consider making high quality prints of the designed logo to show it to the client.

Our company has experience of more than 10 years in various fields of graphic design including logo design. Please, feel free to contact us if you need a professionally designed logo or corporate identity.
